Zuzu's Notebook

Dot and Dash

COMMENT

Dash's imagination is often crowded with hecklers. This makes it hard for her to stay in tune with Dot.

Method. This cartoon was created on cloth, out of a practice design. An 8-inch square from one of Jim's old shirts is sandwiched with batting and a backing from one of my old blouses. The purpose was to practice free-motion quilting, tracing over lines made with a circle template. The "hecklers" were certain dancing around MY head as I sewed.

A couple weeks later, I needed to practice my fabric painting and grabbed this block. Dot, Dash, and the horde of hecklers immediately came to mind. Paint: Jacquard Lumiere fabric paint in two shades of gold, applied with a small pointed brush.
