Green Valley School was a residential program for troubled kids and a sixties-style commune for its staff. I arrived at the Orange City Florida campus in February 1971. Around May, Lee Ricketts and I drove 10 kids north to the Catskills to start our own little farm adjacent to GVS' Buck Brook Farm.  I left the Green Valley family, with my future husband Paul S., in August of 1972.

What an interesting place in interesting times. Here are a few of my coming-of-age stories about that era. (For privacy reasons I haven't used any last names, except where I know the person is deceased.)

1 My grand exit from Chicago | 2 The beginning | 3 The ghost | 4 Art Wohl | 5 Starry night | 6 Florida days and nights | 7 Driving north | 8 Abbey Farm | 9 Gun it! | 10 Single girl on the commune | 11 What I did for love | 12 Was Buck Brook magic? | 13 Suzi | 14 Lee Ricketts | 15 Maple sugaring & Nick's fingers | 16 Special Education
