Yesterday Joanne Panarisi treated me to an ion foot cleanse at her Intrinsic Wisdom office. The idea is that toxins stored in your tissues are released (via the lymphatic system) through an ionically charged foot bath.
Sure I believe that a long walk, lots of water, and a good night’s sleep cures all. But sometimes (after a vacation and many days in a row of indulgent socializing), giving yourself over to the wisdom of machinery is a relief.
In half an hour, the liquid in the foot basin turned from clear water to a greasy orange-brown soup. Like beer and wine mixed with chocolate. Eeuuww.
I did feel an energy boost afterwards. It felt good to think I had purged away all that nastiness. I walked home from the IW office down the street. The air was sunny and warm and fragrant with lilacs. “Life is good,” I was thinking, back in our kitchen, as I poured myself a glass of wine and melted margarine for a bowl of popcorn.
