I’ve just about completely wasted this afternoon looking out my window. After loosing 5 lbs of bird feed in 2 days to a greedy tribe of squirrels, we went out and invested in a Droll Yankees “squirrel-proof” feeder. (We had a couple decent ones but someone took them.) The tufted titmice and chickadees are back, but the squirrels are furious with us. They are stalking around the feeder (you can see the problem-solving gears grinding in their clever little brains) and they are glaring at us through the window.
I actually like the squirrels. Their gymnastics are entertaining. And I wish I could scamper with their energy. They are fine with they eat some bird seed then retreat for the birds to have a turn. But this week they must have called in their cousins from the next lot for an all-you-can-eat chow-down. Nothing more disgusting than a gluttonous mammal. So we did what we had to do.
Hey, it’s a jungle out there.
