Today was another scenic drive, best described in photographs. (When you go to Flickr, use the Slide Show option for the most dramatic pictures.)
We drove north on US Rt 84 into “Georgia O’Keeffe” territory. The artist lived and painted in Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu. The rock formations were colorful and awesome. We drove about 90 miles up to Tierra Amarilla. It’s amazing to me that there are so many wilderness spaces left in America. I was anxious about going too far. We found a gas station in Tierra Amarilla, so that made me feel better. Still, we turned around and headed back to Santa Fe. (Ok, I admit it: I’m a city girl and a flatlander. Exploring at 7000 to 10,000 makes me nervous.
