Reviews of "Passion & Peril on the Silk Road"
Gripping! The suspense starts on page one where the characters immediately come alive and carry you on an unforgettable journey. The plot moves swiftly forward through vivid, descriptive, precise prose. The characters are complex, and the twists and turns which determine their destiny keep you riveted from beginning to end. Although the action takes place on foreign terrain, the author makes it possible for you to easily visualize the landscape and the action therein.
I hope a sequel is in the works! (Nancy Stark, Rochester NY, posted at Amazon.com)
Fresh, Thought-provoking & Exciting Thriller. This is one of those books you hate to put down. One of those everybody-leave-me-alone-and-just-let-me-read books. Save it for a vacation or when you have a nice block of time for just reading. As another reviewer suggested, have a map. I was poolside during this thriller and felt a little lost without a map; wanting to learn even more about this crazy adventure of these well-crafted characters (I later found a neat map at [www.PassionAndPeril.com]). This plot is fresh, timely and thought-provoking on many levels: cultural differences, marriage-as-it-matures, family trust & obligation issues, soul searching passions (for people, things or prestige?), and, of course, the intrigue of the art world underworld. After finishing the book I still think about the characters. This book would make a fantastic movie. I think it is a first class novel. [Lesley Paiva, Richmond VA, posted at Amazon.com]
A thriller you can't put down: love, danger, and intrigue!! What a great story. Jackson and Nellie! What happened to their love 10 years ago? What will happen to them now? Jackson has barely recovered from the horrible murder of his wife, Catherine -- apparently in an art deal gone bad. And his old flame Nellie shows up. Will her spirited attempt to help her beloved Jackson "solve the case" succeed? Or will Jackson cure his sorrows by going back on the road, back in business with the new woman Anna?... The author's knowledge of these faraway countries and their culture was impressive. She tucked details into every situation, making this mysterious part of the world and the twisted business of art dealing come alive... The author has woven a compelling tale of mystery and suspense.... The international dealing in legal and illicit Asian antiquities is as much a part of the story as the characters themselves.
The characters are all very human: some evil, some loyal and courageous, and some vain and self-centered. Each character engages and holds the reader's interest, but not always the reader's sympathy, through the twists and turns of international intrigue. The action is fast-paced and compelling with surprising revelations about the strengths, weaknesses, and background of the characters as the story develops. The ending is satisfying, but unexpected, with surprises until the final page. Any fan of mystery and suspense will enjoy this compelling novel by a talented writer. [Donald R. Hayworth, Florida]
A GREAT READ! I am a book snob! I usually read mystery, suspense, etc. written by established authors. A friend suggusted this book and I thought OK I'll give a try. I am sure glad I did as I now have another great writer to add to my list. I was captivated from start to finish, it was refreshing to read a book different from what I have read lately. My only suggestion is to look at the map before you begin. It helped me to judge the distance from country to country. I hope this first book will be followed by many more. [Joy Rogers,

Very riveting... It's one of those books that you can't put down until you finish it. The first of it was a little slow... but once we got on the road, it really picked up. You "done good." [Sarah Pryor, Florida]
Exciting thriller-excellent writing. This is a great thriller with outstanding writing for a first-time author. Bravo Susan Price! We want more! [Kathleen McDermott, Missouri, posted on Amazon.com]
Excellent writing from cover to cover - a MUST read. Passionate, riveting, and full of exciting twists and turns, this story engages the reader from start to finish. Jackson and Nellie captivate our attention as their tumultuous journey unfolds with plenty of danger, suspense, and intrigue. Susan Price delivers her first brilliant thriller leaving us wanting more. [Maria Cristalli, New York, posted on Amazon.com]
