Shiva Seeks Photos
Two half-days and this week's batch of ebay store items is finally up. I could use a creative break, but I am on a Shiva the Destroyer* roll. I should grab some things from the packed shelves around me and throw them into auctions for the coming week, but I decided we need to be a little more strategic and a little more systematic. So... from Public Health Books (still not sold, but working on it) to... Photographica!
I decided to start by simply doing a high-level inventory. Survey from 10,000 feet: what categories of photo-related stuff do we own?
Oh. My. God. We have photo collections in every single room of the house, jammed into every nook and cranny. I'd forgotten how pervasive they were. Plus, still a small collection of antique stereo cameras (for making 3D photos).
I came up with 20 categories. Within the Stereo View category I listed all of Jim's nicely labeled envelopes -- 120 of them!
If I'm reading my "Getting Things Done" correctly, collecting a List of Everything is the first step in organizing the action plan. It does feel good now to have an overview.
Thumbs Up if you liked this entry.
* From Hinduism: Shiva is the destroyer of the world, following Brahma the creator and Vishnu the preserver, after which Brahma again creates the world and so on. Shiva is responsible for change both in the form of death and destruction and in the positive sense of the shedding of old habits. [link] Shiva is usually represented with several arms.
