Are we winning in Iraq?
Any boob who pays attention to the news will say, "No."
Secretary of Defense to Be Gates says: "No." (Even though, yes, of course, an American soldier can whip an insurgent's ass.)
Bush says: "Absolutely yes!"
White House Press Secretary Tony Snow brushes off the contradiction. He's, like, so what's the problem? I say to-MAH-to, you say to-MAY-to. Blah-blah-blah.
This just drives me crazy! Have we become so anti-intellectual that we no longer define our terms? Is this what happens when truth-is-relative post-modernism seizes our leadership?
We're winning because I'm the commander-in-chief and I say we're winning. Oy, I've experienced this before back in my old job. "My position makes me right."
I fear children who don't get good educations, whose parents care less for accuracy than ideology. Their ignorance will condemn us to future Bush-like authoritarian administration.
