Tuesday 5.17.05: The Skinny on Thickburgers

"Gluttony Rules the Day" was the headline. Another article about supersized fast foods: Hardee's Monster Thickburger... Burger King's Enormous Omelet Sandwich... Domino's Double Decadence Pizza.

It's hardly news, but it got me thinking. Who is really the evil beyond these monstrosities? Corporations sure, but we all know that behind every Boardroom Powerpoint presentation is a skinny bitch.

You know her. She's the one who has to make sure she's the thinnest babe in any group. She looks around, sizing up her companions. "More chips? Try some of this wonderful dip."

Have I ever really known anyone like that -- a psycho food pusher? Or is the serpentine gal behind the Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger just another symbol for the woman who pretends that she's a "sister" while single-mindedly pursuing her own aims? The quiet conspirator. The make-believe friend. Someone who loves you as long as she's got the advantage on you.

This rings a bell. I've written about this topic before, after we saw "All About Eve" and I read an article defining "jerks."

Another theme I've returned to...
